Given its abundance, solar energy can meet the ever-burgeoning demand for power. This form of energy becomes even more relevant today when there is all-round hue and cry to reduce the dependence on fossil-fuel based form of energy. Government of India as well as various State Governments have recognized the importance and relevance of Solar energy and major thrust has been imparted for its development. By the year 2022, a target of capacity addition of 1,00,000 MW of solar power has been decided in the country. India is thickly populated and has high solar radiation and thus making it an ideal combination for its use.
